With the widespread acceptance and use of silicone hydrogel materials for both daily and continuous wear, patients are being fit with lenses that are safer, healthier, and more comfortable than ever before. Silicone hydrogels promise longer continuous wear schedules, improved corneal physiology, and fewer complications. This course will cover the advantages of silicone hydrogels for daily and continuous wear, lens selection (emphasizing the importance of compliance with disposability or frequent replacement schedules), selection of care products that are safe to use with silicone hydrogel materials, pearls for achieving continuous wear success, causes of continuous wear problems, wearing schedules, and follow-up care.
