Even though rigid gas permeable (RGP) toric lenses are perceived as a small segment of rigid lens fittings, it is still a very important market and not really all that difficult to fit once you understand the basics. This article will cover the basics of RGP toric lens fitting including the designs, applications and fitting philosophies of front toric, back toric and bitoric lenses. It will conclude with a discussion of lens verification of these designs and case histories for the reader. At the conclusion of this article, the reader will understand the basic fitting characteristics of toric RGP lenses and how to apply them in practice.
