Course Description:


Access to each webinar recording will be available starting at approximately 7:30 p.m. Central Time, on each of the four dates below. Access to the webinar recordings and quizzes will end at 11:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.


March 3 Clinical Trials Update 2020 This course will present the results of new clinical trials in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), retinal venous occlusive (RVO) disease and diseases affecting the vitreomacular interface. Complications of treatment will be thoroughly reviewed. The results will be compared to pre-existing treatment modalities, and a discussion will ensue regarding how the results of the new trials fit into our current treatment patterns.

March 10 Assisting in Minor In-Office Surgery vs. Outpatient Surgery This program will dive into the main differences between in-office vs. outpatient surgical procedures. Each instructor will demonstrate the key points necessary for the ophthalmic assistant to know when assisting in the different surgical spaces. This course may contain surgical images that may not sit well for some attendees.

March 17 Myasthenia Gravis- What I wish you knew: a patient's perspective This course will discuss myasthenia gravis and the relevant effects this disease has on the patient. The accommodations, empathy, and additional assistance that can be provided to acheive the best experience for the patient and the technician will be outlined and reviewed.

March 24 Infection Control in Ophthalmology This course will review infection control processes for the ophthalmic nurse and technician. Standard precautions, universal precautions, as well as cleaning and disinfection in the ophthalmic setting will be covered. Review of TASS and endophthalmitis symptomatology will also be included.br>
