The incidence of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) has reached epidemic proportions in both non-industrialized and industrialized nations. Some eye-care practitioners may believe this disease has no bearing on their practices, but most have and will continue to have contact with HIV-infected patients.
