How can empathy and understanding transform diabetes-related eye care? This training course from Prevent Blindness is an interactive, self-paced program designed to help eye care providers and all team members in the office recognize bias, strengthen communication, and build trust with patients—particularly those from diverse and underserved communities. Co-developed with patients, eye care professionals, and national partners, the training brings real patient experiences to the forefront and offers practical strategies for delivering more equitable, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care.

Through four engaging modules featuring real patient stories, reflective exercises, and real-world scenarios, participants will gain tools to strengthen empathy and improve patient interactions promoting stronger adherence to treatment and improved eye health. Users of this course can complete the training at their own pace and earn 1 continuing education (CE) credit while taking meaningful steps toward a better patient experience.
