Course Description:

In this course we will demonstrate other ways to perform diagnostic ultrasound under special circumstances. We will look at a report of 3 exams of the same Hawai'ian Monk Seal over four years with various eye problems over time. Images of other marine animals like dolphin, penguin, sea lion and elephant seal will show unique anatomy and how it affects the animal's vision as well as how they differ from the human eye.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Recognize that eye anatomy can be substantially different in non-human species.
  2. Demonstrate how animal ophthalmology is challenging and needs imagination to obtain diagnostic ultrasound images.
  3. Inspire someone to include animal eye problems when adopting by taking in a blind cat, dog, or any other vision impaired animal.
