Course Description:

A self-guided online course designed to teach outreach personnel and allied health professionals about the visual system and the signs, symptoms and complications of the secondary diseases of diabetes œ Diabetic Retinopathy, Cataracts and Glaucoma. The purpose of the program is that patient education messages about diabetic eye disease can be delivered through health outreach programs of community health centers, health departments, pharmacies and medical practices to patients with diabetes and populations at highest risk for developing diabetes.


Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe basic information on diabetes and diabetic eye disease.
  2. List parts of the eye and explain how the visual system works.
  3. Explain what diabetic retinopathy is and list patient education messages about the condition.
  4. Explain what cataracts are and list patient education messages about cataracts.
  5. Explain what glaucoma is and list patient education messages about the condition.
  6. List patient education messages about general vision and eye health.

  • Registration deadline for webinars is 2 p.m., Central Time, the Monday prior to the webinar presentation date. Once you have completed your webinar registration, you will receive an Order Confirmation at the email address on file. If an Order Confirmation is not received, you have not successfully registered for the webinar. A personal email address is required for registration. IJCAHPO Certification is not required to register for webinars.
  • Webinars are not eligible for a refund.
