Course Description:

The orbit is a confined yet complex space. Indications for orbital surgery may include trauma, inflammation, vascular malformations, and cancer. Approaches to the orbit include transcutaneous, ranconjunctival, transcranial, and lateral orbitotomies. Each of these approaches has advantages and disadvantages. The purpose of this course is to discuss the various orbital diseases and the different approaches to orbital surgery. Surgical videos will be shown during the course.


Learning Objectives:
  1. List the various orbital diseases that may be managed with surgery.
  2. Differentiate between trancutaneous and tranconjunctival orbitotomies.
  3. Recite the steps of a lateral orbitotomy.
  4. List the indications for a transcranial orbitotomy.
