Course Description:

The course will address how problematic management of cataract surgery patients can create patient safety risks and liability exposure. It will provide risk management recommendations on how to mitigate these risks; specifically, how practice protocols, the informed consent process, and managing patient expectations can reduce risks for the surgeon, practice, and facility.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify the types of information that should be included in a pre-op protocol for cataract surgery.
  2. State steps in the pre-op protocol that should be used to align patient and surgeon expectations.
  3. Identify the purpose of the informed consent process and the benefit of procedure-specific forms.
