Course Description:

Patients often present for eye exams because of headaches or other neurological concerns. What is the role of neuroimaging in evaluating patients with eye problems? In addition, what should prompt the eye care provider to consider obtaining neuroimaging studies? This course will address the different types of studies that can be performed, when they should be ordered and the urgency of doing so. The instructor will also show abnormal findings that correlate with different visual and neurological disorders that patients seen by Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP) may have.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe the different uses of standard neuroimaging studies including CT and MRI of the head/brain.
  2. Recognize ophthalmic conditions that warrant urgent neuroimaging.
