Vision plays a critical role in a child's development: physical, cognitive and social. Uncorrected refractive error impairs development, interferes with learning, and even leads to permanent vision loss. Early detection and treatment are critical. This course will address important factors that cause vision loss from genetic conditions to trauma.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify the most common vision loss conditions in children.
  2. Describe unusual trauma cases.
  3. Identify the treatment options for the conditions and cases.
  4. Describe the role of the ophthalmic technician in the pediatric patient's examination, diagnosis, treatment and surgery.
